Officials from the U.K. have warned of a “highly credible” threat of an attack at Kabul airport by Islamic state militants. Because if we know one thing it’s if IS doesn’t get what they want fast enough just like a toddler they’ll throw a fit. Although in this case the “fit” comes in the form of a RPG.
It comes as no surprise that this was the next course of action for the Islamic state even though evacuation efforts enter the final stages, with countries scrambling to urge people out of Taliban-controlled Afghanistan prior to an Aug. 31 deadline set by President Joe Biden.
Some European countries have already begun to halt flights from Hamid Karzai International Airport.
The U.S. and other Western countries involved within the evacuation have urged people to remain removed from the airport amid growing concerns about possible terrorist activity.
The U.K.’s defense force Minister James Heappey told Sky News Thursday that an “imminent, lethal attack” may be close to happening at Kabul airport.
“Intelligence over the course of the week is now more certain that the highly credible, imminent, lethal attack on the airport or the handling centers being employed by western forces,” Heappey told Sky News.
The U.K.’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, meanwhile, issued new guidance to warn of “an ongoing and high threat of terrorist act.” It urged people to not visit the airport and move away to a secure location to await further advice.
Late Wednesday, the U.S. embassy in Kabul urged U.S. citizens in Afghanistan to avoid traveling to the capital city’s airport, citing an unspecified security threat outside the gates. This was definitely a wise choice Because being outside the gates in a foreign country with a warlord power that hates anything west of the afghan border is better then being surrounded by allied forces. The U.S embassy and others had these inspiring words to give to American citizens outside the safety gates.
“Because of security threats outside the gates of Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at now unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to try and do so,” the safety alert said.
“U.S. citizens who are at the Abbey Gate, East Gate, or North Gate now should leave immediately,” it added.
The U.S. embassy in Kabul advised Americans to remember of their surroundings the least bit times, follow the instructions of local authorities, have a contingency plan for emergencies and monitor local media and also the State Department for developments.
The U.S. administration has not shared the overall number of american citizens and Afghan nationals that it’s attending to evacuate before troops depart at the top of the month.
NATO allies and members of the president’s own party have pushed for an extension of the withdrawal deadline, expressing doubt that the coalition can evacuate all the Afghans who are eligible to go away in such a brief timeframe.
However, Biden on Tuesday reiterated to leaders of the G-7, NATO, UN and global organization that the us will withdraw its military from Afghanistan by the top of the month I suspect he said this because this entire withdrawal has been nothing more then embarrassing and definitely left a stain on the mans career as president.
What could this do to the market
Precious metals like gold and silver would probably go up as they usually do when a tragic or cataclysmic event happens.
It’s still to soon to tell but if an attack is coming between now and the 31st I would strongly advise either defense companies like Lockheed or Raytheon and also precious metals gold is the main choice here at patrioticbets but silver too.
